- Layers, editable vectors, camera-raw controls, animation, high bit depth, and metadata are preserved only when JPG supports them.
- Codec and quality implications
- JPG uses lossy compression. A higher quality or bitrate can reduce new artifacts, but it cannot restore detail already missing from the CR2 source.
- Realistic limitations
- Multi-page, layered, animated, camera-raw, or very large images may be flattened, reduced to one frame, or rejected if the decoder cannot safely read them.

- Download the JPG file and check the result before deleting your source.

- Choose a target that supports the needed feature and keep the original file; JPG cannot store transparency or animation.
