WAV

WAV files preserve full audio quality and are supported by most audio editors, DAWs, media players, and operating systems. Because WAV stores raw audio data, files are usually much larger than compressed formats like FLAC or MP3.
What happens when MKV becomes WAV

- A MKV file with no decodable audio stream cannot produce WAV audio. Corrupt, encrypted, or unsupported codecs can also fail.

- Try a broadly supported target codec and verify that the source contains a decodable audio stream.
