What changes
The audio stream is decoded from the CAVS container and encoded as AAC audio.
The video track, frames, subtitles, chapters, and visual metadata are not included in the audio output.

- Codec and quality implications
- AAC uses lossy compression. A higher quality or bitrate can reduce new artifacts, but it cannot restore detail already missing from the CAVS source.
- Realistic limitations
- A CAVS file with no decodable audio stream cannot produce AAC audio. Corrupt, encrypted, or unsupported codecs can also fail.
Conversion steps
- Upload a CAVS file no larger than 1 GB.
- Confirm that AAC is selected as the target.
- Start the conversion. A healthy compatible worker begins processing immediately.
- Download the AAC file and check the result before deleting your source.
Troubleshooting
- The CAVS file is rejected or will not open.
- Confirm that the file is not empty, password-protected, or corrupt and that its real format matches the extension.
- The AAC file is larger than expected.
- Choose a more efficient codec or lower quality setting when available. Lossless and uncompressed targets are often larger by design.
- The result has no sound or will not play.
- Try a broadly supported target codec and verify that the source contains a decodable audio stream.
