Frequently asked questions

Can Convertr unlock a PDF without the password?

No. This tool is only for authorized decryption when you already know the PDF open password. It does not crack passwords, guess passwords, bypass unknown passwords, or defeat access controls.

Does unlocking change PDF quality?

No. qpdf removes encryption and rewrites the PDF structure without rasterizing pages, compressing images, changing dimensions, or reducing resolution.

What if my PDF is not encrypted?

Convertr can return a clean rewritten copy and will clearly report that no password was present.

What if the password is wrong?

The unlock fails with a clear message. Convertr does not retry with guesses, dictionaries, brute force, or cracking libraries.

Are uploaded PDFs private?

Files are processed in short-lived temporary storage and automatically deleted after processing. Passwords, filenames, PDF text, document contents, and metadata values are not sent to analytics.
