RAW is the most common format of uncompressed images captured by digital cameras and scanners. It is used to store full details of captured images for editing.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the RAW format?
The RAW format is a multimedia standard in the current world of digital content. And it shows the following advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
RAW does not compress your photographs, you can capture as much quality and information as possible.
You can adjust and enhance everything in the picture when editing.
They store up to 14 bits, so their color quality is quite high.
Disadvantages:
Their size is too large, so not many photos fit on the same memory card.
They usually take a long time to be stored on the memory card, so most cameras do not achieve the same frame rate as with other files.
They cannot be delivered immediately, they need software to load them.
Some software may not be able to read the format, as each camera has its own RAW format.

Which is better: RAW or JPEG?
A RAW image has a wider dynamic range and color gamut compared to JPEG images. However, JPEG allows you to capture more images because of its smaller size, depending on the user's preferences you will see which is more convenient.
Do I really need to shoot RAW?
RAW is ideal if your intention is to edit images with the best detail. Photographs with a lot of details or colors or where light and shadow are modified should be shot in RAW. However, this depends on the individual's taste.
Why do professional photographers use RAW?
RAW provides better image information, allows you to capture more detail and a greater dynamic range from your camera's sensor. It is also more flexible for editing and its quality will be excellent when developing the photo.
Why do RAW images look so bad?
The files must go through a post-processing process, otherwise the pictures may come out very flat or washed out. In fact, RAW files usually do not lose any amount of data from the captured images.

Quality and format limits
PNG and TIFF are useful lossless working targets. JPG is lossy and removes transparency; WebP and AVIF may be lossy or lossless. Preserve source pixel dimensions unless resizing is intentional.
Film simulations, lens corrections, and Fujifilm-specific RAW processing may differ.

Check that the file opens in its original application, is not encrypted or DRM-protected, and really matches its extension. A damaged header, unsupported internal codec, missing linked asset, or mislabeled file can fail even when RAF is generally supported. Try a different published target only when it fits your goal; changing the extension by hand does not convert the file.
