What is Motion JPEG (MJPEG)?
Motion JPEG compresses each video frame as a separate JPEG image. It may appear as a raw MJPEG stream or as video inside a container such as AVI or MOV. Playback support depends on the container, codec tag, and software, so converting to MP4 can improve compatibility.
Convert from MJPEG to MP4 and other formats
This page accepts MJPEG as the source format. MP4 is the clearest choice for broader playback, while the output selector also shows every other active route available for the uploaded file.
Supported MJPEG output choices
- Convert MJPEG to MP4 with H.264 video for broad device, browser, and editor compatibility.
- Other active video outputs include AVI, FLV, MKV, MOV, WebM, and WMV.
- GIF output is available when you need an animated image instead of a video file.
- Available outputs depend on the uploaded source and active converter routes.
Converting JPEG, GIF, or MPEG into MJPEG
- This converter currently works from MJPEG; it does not create MJPEG output from JPEG or JPG still images, animated GIFs, or MPEG videos.
- Use the relevant source-format converter to see its supported outputs. For MPEG video compatibility, MPEG to MP4 is available.
- Converting into MJPEG is not currently supported.
