Video to GIF Maker

Upload a video, choose the exact segment, set the frame rate and width, then create a palette-optimized animated GIF. The 1 GB upload limit still applies, and these GIF settings do not change normal video converter defaults.

Create a GIF from video

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, and AVI files are accepted up to 1 GB.

GIFs can be larger and less smooth than video. Shorter clips, lower fps, or smaller width can reduce the estimated output size when you choose those settings. Choose a file and range to see an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose fps and width manually?

Animated GIFs can become much larger than the source video segment. Convertr asks you to choose frame rate and width explicitly so the final GIF matches your quality and size expectations.

Does this change normal video conversion defaults?

No. These GIF-specific controls only apply on this GIF maker page. Existing video conversion defaults are unchanged.

What video formats can I upload?

Upload MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, or AVI files up to the standard 1 GB Convertr upload limit.

How is the GIF palette generated?

Convertr uses ffmpeg palettegen and paletteuse for the selected clip, which usually produces cleaner colors than a one-pass video-to-GIF export.
