Does Markdown to PDF use a paid API?

No. Convertr parses Markdown locally on the server and renders the PDF with the same local headless Chromium path used by the HTML to PDF tool.

Are remote images loaded from Markdown?

No. Remote images are not fetched. Embedded data images are allowed, and the renderer also blocks network access during PDF creation.
