Font Subsetter

Create a smaller font for supplied text or Unicode ranges while retaining cmap, composite, layout-feature, and shaping closure.

Choose a font

Signature-verified, non-collection TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 fonts are supported. The public upload limit remains 1 GB.

Use comma-separated code points or inclusive ranges. Text and ranges are never sent to analytics or logs.

Inspection is read-only. Subsetting is inherently lossy. Transforming a font does not grant redistribution, embedding, publishing, or other license rights, and Convertr conservatively blocks transformations when selected fsType bits prohibit them.

Font Subsetter

Create a deterministic font subset for supplied text or Unicode ranges with conservative layout and glyph closure.

Input
One supported font plus bounded text or Unicode ranges and an output-family choice.
Output
A subset font and deterministic retained/dropped manifest.
Real limitations
Subsetting is inherently lossy, cannot grant redistribution rights, and may be blocked by the source embedding restriction bits.
Privacy and data handling
one supported font plus bounded text or Unicode ranges and an output-family choice is uploaded to a compatible Convertr worker only after you start the operation. Processing is automated, and temporary source and result files are deleted automatically after processing rather than retained as permanent storage.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose one supported font plus bounded text or Unicode ranges and an output-family choice and wait for the page to validate it.
  2. Set the available output or inspection options, then start processing.
  3. Review the reported result and download a subset font and deterministic retained/dropped manifest before the temporary link expires.

Common failure modes

Missing requested coverage, corrupt structures, unsupported output flavor, failed reopen, or failed shaping validation stops export.

Useful example

Subset a WOFF2 font to the characters used by a multilingual product while retaining reachable layout features and .notdef.
