Source format
EOT is the font source or target format for this conversion path.
EOT
EOT (Embedded OpenType) is a web font format created by Microsoft for Internet Explorer. It packages TrueType or OpenType font data in a compact, optionally compressed form. Modern browsers no longer support EOT, so it is usually converted to WOFF2, WOFF, or TTF.
WOFF2
WOFF2 is the second version of the Web Open Font Format. It uses Brotli compression, which makes font files about 30% smaller than WOFF and speeds up page loading. WOFF2 is the recommended font format for modern websites.
What happens when EOT becomes WOFF2
Target format
WOFF2 is the font source or target format for this conversion path.
What changes
The EOT document is interpreted and rebuilt using the layout and editing model supported by WOFF2.
- What is preserved
- Readable text, images, and page order are preserved where the WOFF2 format can represent the same document features.
- What may be lost
- Complex fonts, comments, tracked changes, forms, macros, and exact pagination may change when WOFF2 cannot represent them.
- Codec and quality implications
- Inspect the output before replacing the source, especially when the formats use different layout, codec, or editing models.
- Realistic limitations
- Password protection, corruption, missing fonts, macros, embedded objects, and unusually complex layouts can change or prevent conversion.
Conversion steps
- Upload a EOT file no larger than 1 GB.
- Confirm that WOFF2 is selected as the target.
- Start the conversion. A healthy compatible worker begins processing immediately.
- Download the WOFF2 file and check the result before deleting your source.
Troubleshooting
- The EOT file is rejected or will not open.
- Confirm that the file is not empty, password-protected, or corrupt and that its real format matches the extension.
- The WOFF2 file is larger than expected.
- Choose a more efficient codec or lower quality setting when available. Lossless and uncompressed targets are often larger by design.
Privacy and file retention
Uploads and converted files are processed automatically and irreversibly deleted within 24 hours. You can delete them sooner with the delete control. Convertr does not read, mine, sell, or manually review file contents.
