Ogg is an open media container, not one audio codec. Files ending in .ogg commonly contain Vorbis audio, but they can also contain Opus audio. Convertr checks the supported audio stream before encoding it as MP3.

Not exactly. Ogg is the container, while Vorbis is an audio codec commonly stored inside it. A file with an .ogg extension may instead contain Opus audio, so the extension alone does not identify the codec.
