PDF format guide

What to know before converting PDF

PDF is a fixed-layout page description that can contain text, vector graphics, raster images, forms, annotations, fonts, and attachments.

What this converter actually supports

Published document routes use the deployed LibreOffice, Calibre, Ghostscript, and dedicated PDF/CAD services according to the selected pair. Complex files are converted on a best-effort basis.

Convert PDF to DOCX for best-effort editing, JPG or PNG for page images, or EPUB for reflowable reading.

The public upload limit is 1 GB. Convertr does not reduce dimensions, duration, resolution, or output quality merely to manage worker load.

Quality and format limits

Review page breaks, fonts, tables, fields, forms, annotations, and images after conversion. A fixed page cannot always be reconstructed as an editable document without layout changes.

Reconstructing editable layout is imperfect; scans need OCR, and encryption, forms, signatures, and complex typography can change.

Published PDF inputs

These links come from the active conversion catalog, not from a generic list of possible formats.

Published PDF outputs

Choose one of these implemented routes; a listed extension is not a promise that every codec variant will decode.

If a PDF conversion fails

Check that the file opens in its original application, is not encrypted or DRM-protected, and really matches its extension. A damaged header, unsupported internal codec, missing linked asset, or mislabeled file can fail even when PDF is generally supported. Try a different published target only when it fits your goal; changing the extension by hand does not convert the file.
