XLSX can preserve worksheets, formulas, cell types, formatting, and charts.
What changes
Records and values are parsed from TSV and serialized using XLSX syntax and data types.
- What is preserved
- Data values and record relationships are preserved where TSV and XLSX have equivalent types.
- What may be lost
- Comments, key order, formatting, formulas, styles, namespaces, or type annotations may be lost when XLSX cannot represent them.
- Codec and quality implications
- This is a structural conversion rather than a visual quality setting; verify types, delimiters, encodings, and row counts in the output.
- Realistic limitations
- Malformed syntax, mixed encodings, unsupported nesting, or values outside the target type range can prevent an accurate conversion.
Conversion steps
- Upload a TSV file no larger than 1 GB.
- Confirm that XLSX is selected as the target.
- Start the conversion. A healthy compatible worker begins processing immediately.
- Download the XLSX file and check the result before deleting your source.
Troubleshooting
- The TSV file is rejected or will not open.
- Confirm that the file is not empty, password-protected, or corrupt and that its real format matches the extension.
- The XLSX file is larger than expected.
- Choose a more efficient codec or lower quality setting when available. Lossless and uncompressed targets are often larger by design.
Privacy and file retention
Uploads and converted files are processed automatically and irreversibly deleted within 24 hours. You can delete them sooner with the delete control. Convertr does not read, mine, sell, or manually review file contents.
