Why convert a Pages file to PDF?

Pages is the word processor from Apple. Windows, Android and Google Docs cannot open .pages files. A PDF opens everywhere and looks the same on every screen.

Convert to PDF when you get a document from a Mac user and want to read it, print it or send it to people without a Mac.

What stays and what changes

What stays

Text, headings, lists, tables, text boxes and images go into the PDF. The page size and the page breaks follow the document.

What changes

Fonts that only Apple devices have, such as Helvetica Neue or SF Pro, are replaced by similar fonts. Charts are not converted. The layout can be a little different from a PDF that Pages exports itself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert Pages to PDF without a Mac?

Yes. Convertr converts the .pages file on its servers. You only need a browser on Windows, Android, Linux, an iPhone or an iPad.

Does the PDF look exactly like the document in Pages?

Text, tables and images stay. Apple fonts that our servers do not have are replaced by similar fonts, and charts are not converted. The result tells you when this happens. For an exact copy, use File > Export To > PDF in Pages.

Can I convert the file on an iPhone or an Android phone?

Yes. On an iPhone or iPad, select Choose Files and pick the file in the Files app. On Android, save the file first, then choose it.

My file has a password. What can I do?

Convertr cannot open files with a password and never asks for one. Open the file in Pages, remove the password and upload the file again. You can also export the file directly in Pages.

My browser does not upload the file. Why?

Older files from Pages can be folders (packages), and browsers cannot upload folders. In Pages on a Mac, choose File > Advanced > Save as Single File. You can also compress the file in Finder and upload the ZIP file.

Are my files private?

Uploads and converted files are processed automatically and irreversibly deleted within 24 hours. You can delete them sooner with the delete control. Convertr does not read, mine, sell, or manually review file contents.
